Position Description: The primary responsibility of Maintenance Assistant is to ensure all vacated apartments are thoroughly restored to market ready status, and that service requests are completed in a timely manner. Assumes the responsibilities of the Lead Maintenance in their absence.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and monitor parts, supplies and equipment inventory.
  • Provide support to all other maintenance staff
  • Participate in quarterly property inspections
  • Remove trash from outside each shift
  • Assist Lead Maintenance, as needed.
  • Clean vacant apartments
  • Provide excellent customer service to all residents
  • May be required to work at other Foundation Communities properties in the Austin area as needed
  • Required to be on call


Minimum Requirements:
  • 2-4 years of practical experience with demonstration of required skills
  • Works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations
  • Make-ready experience helpful with good understanding of pools, plumbing, electrical, etc.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Fair housing training and certification for Apartment Maintenance Technician
  • Additional Certifications (i.e. HVAC)
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements

Working Conditions
An occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials can be expected. May be asked to clean up bodily fluids with appropriate training and personal protective equipment provided.

Physical Requirements
CONSTANTLY: standing/walking, bending/stooping/squatting, pushing/pulling, grasping/gripping, reaching above the shoulder, climbing, lifting between 0 and 25 pounds.
FREQUENTLY: coordination of hand/eye/foot, finger dexterity, lifting between 26 and 50 pounds.
May be required to provide coverage/help at other supportive housing communities as needed


Compensation
$19.00/hour
